  • Yountville Art Walk has selected my sculpture “Twister” for a two year exhibition in the beautiful surroundings of Napa Valley. This campaign will help me turn this into reality.  To make your donation please go to my campaign on go fund me: https://www.gofundme.com/lugufelo About the Sculpture: The Rolled ribbons, welded together and forming a spiral/spring emulating strong blasts of wind forming a twister. The yellow tone advises one to use caution, while the representation of the violence of the storm has many implications. In the center, though, is a calm and peaceful inner sanctum, which might represent a well-grounded person moving their way precariously through chaotic society. The funds will help me with the transportation and installation expenses of the sculpture from Miami to California in a 10 day trip, as well as the opportunity to meet with the Art committee in the city of Yountville. The funds will be required by November 10th, 2017 in order to rent the truck, load/secure the sculpture and depart Miami by November 13th, 2017. This is a one in a life time opportunity to share our Miami vision of Hurricanes and twisters with the west coast.Thank you in advance for your support and being a part of the lugufelo community! As a form of gratitude I will document and share my journey with my supporters through daily videos at   www.lugufelo.com

The mathematical element along with nature’s structure, are present in my sculptures. These installations are created by combining old school processes alongside modern technology. By combining those two methods, I am able to create shadows and reflections on the surface of the pieces which can lure the viewer into a state of thought.   Multilayer images arise which question the fragility and instability of our seemingly certain reality. In search for new methods to understand the environment, I focus on exhibiting the sculptures in open spaces. Although the juxtaposition of metal and earth are visible, the installations are created to have minuscule amounts of maintenance and thus pose no harm to the surrounding area.   My work does not reference recognizable form, extending the meaning, and possible interpretations then become multifaceted. The sculptures are in contact with basic living elements, where space and landscape are examined in less obvious ways and are sometimes developed in abstract forms. Even though I have been influenced by various famous artists, the sculptures I create are separate from their tendencies and define my own way of expressing art. It is because of this, that I feel attracted to place my installations in public spaces.
